I will never forget you.

Grandkids are so precious, and their view of the future is with so many questions--Sammy was interested in all the great greats, like grandmothers and grandfathers, etc, and about dying--of course --that is even on our minds more often as we get older and they get older. I remember my grandparents very well, they lived into my thirties--my aunt Marjorie left too soon at 76-so I am familiar with the words: I will never forget you-. Turning 60, having a small cancer in my breast, and my grandchildren moving away , far away, was a very hard year. My father is near his end of life, and I havent lost parents yet, so I dont know how that will be--we all live so much longer now---but I felt the largness of my father's life all of my life, and trying to imagine it not being on this earth anymore is impossible--. Have you ever looked around when you were driving and noticed all the people in cars passing by--and thinking--they all have lives, people, families, problems, and they all feel like their life is the center of the universe--and yet, I don't know any of them. Is this why we all feel so unnoticed--maybe why people in small towns are happier, I think they are, because once in awhile, they will cross paths with someone they know, and their world will seem more important because someone else has been a part of it-someone who is not family. So when I was young and I mentioned my father's name, most people in the town knew him, it created in me a feeling or knowledge in me that I was noticed, important. I didnt need facebook then, I had my princess phone. So when my little grandson cuddles in my lap and says,"Grandma, I will never forget you", well you know what I mean.

Paul's new look, all for Momma

This year Paul had a present for me that was a surprise. He came in in with a hooded jacket and they proceeded to give me a picture album and in it was documented the day he went to the beauty parlor and had his dreadlocks cut off--poor guy almost got sick on the way--must have been a Samson moment. Well, new girl, new hair, it's all good.

Monica

Paul is engaged, and this is our new girl. Monica is a ray of light!! Love her, you just have to. So more family!!!

Here is the family, some of it at Myrtle Beach , may 2009. We had a wonderful time, and I reserved it again for next year. Of course my son Matt and his family live in North Carolina, so that is the beach to go to. I did do a little watercolor while I was there: I will put it up next time. bye

Just today

Well, I am new at this--and havent decided how to use this site. Maybe for sharing pictures of family and of my paintings--of my travels--mostly to see the grandkids now, just some of life --what it is like to be 60--
